BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Baton Rouge police arrested a 32-year-old woman who was wanted on counts of feticide after admitting to snorting powdered cocaine while seven months pregnant. Her child was stillborn.
The Advocate reports Princess Beachem, of Baton Rouge, was booked into Parish Prison Friday on counts of feticide.
Authorities say Beachem was transported to a hospital on Sept. 18 after complaining of stomach pains. Doctors performed an emergency cesarean section when they could not hear a heartbeat. Police say Beachem admitted to detectives after the surgery she snorted cocaine a few days earlier when the baby's father broke up with her.
It was unclear whether Beachem has an attorney.
