Baton Rouge Police Officer Arrest on Drug Charges

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Baton Rouge police have arrested one of their own officers on drug charges.
An arrest warrant says Cpl. John Conrad Dauthier, a nine-year veteran of the police department, allegedly used prescriptions he obtained online to illegally receive a painkiller from five separate out-of-state pharmacies.
Sgt. Don Kelly says that Dauthier was placed on administrative leave Wednesday pending an internal investigation.
Dauthier was booked on one count each of possession of a legend drug without a prescription and obtaining legend drugs by misrepresentation or fraud.
Dauthier's bond was set at $5,000, but a state judge releasing Dauthier on his own recognizance.
It was not immediately known whether Dauthier has an attorney.
