Baton Rouge agency applies for tax credits

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - The East Baton Rouge Parish Housing Authority has applied for $16.1 million in tax credits provided through the Louisiana Housing Finance Agency to help renovate or rebuild two housing complexes.
The application for Ardenwood Village applied for $9.4 million to rehabilitate the 93-unit complex.
The Advocate reports the remodel will allow the housing authority to add some amenities to the apartments such as washers and driers as well as central heating and air conditioning.
The housing authority also applied for $6.7 million in tax credits to demolish and then rebuild an apartment complex at Roosevelt Terrace.
Since the current layout has all the bedrooms upstairs, but the housing authority wants more units to be handicap-accessible, remodeling was going to be difficult.
The rebuilt complex will consist of townhouse-style units.
