BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - A Broadmoor High School student has been arrested after being caught with ammunition at school.
Casey Rayborn Hicks, a spokeswoman for the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office, tells The Advocate a teacher found the ammunition inside the 11th-grader's backpack Thursday and alerted authorities.
Hicks says the 16-year-old student cooperated with deputies, taking them to the gun the ammunition went to at his home.
The student was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Juvenile Detention Center on one count each of carrying a dangerous weapon by a student on school property and illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile.
