Bank robbery suspect wanted in Geismar

Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's assistance in solving a bank robbery that occurred at Red River Bank in Geismar (on Highway 73 at Highway 74).

According to Lt. Col. Bobby Webre, the Sheriff's Office received the call shortly after 12:30 pm. Deputies say they are searching for a black male that entered the bank wearing a motorcycle helmet with some type of light jacket. The suspect brandished a handgun and demanded money from the bank employees. The suspect then exited the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash. Deputies say the suspect may have fled the scene south on Highway 73, as a passenger in a light colored 4-door sedan.

The gunman is further described as approximately 6'1" in height with a slim to medium build.
Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $1,000 cash reward and Red River Bank is offering a $2,500 reward.
