As the Haitians are struggling without life's bare essentials, a student and teacher at Crowley High School have decided to help.

Senior Jake Daigle teamed up with his teacher, Pat Johnson 2 weeks ago.

"Everybody's sending money but I wasn't sure it'd get where I wanted it... one particular student, Jake Daigle, heard me talking and immediately put a fire under me," said Johnson.

After some brainstorming they decided on a project to provide Haitians with some of what they need.

"We started putting out fliers, letting everyone know what was happening, and people were so gracious, they came in and brought all these things," said Daigle.

They brought in everything from needed toiletries to Bibles.

Within a week the group's ordered backpacks will arrive so they can pack them for delivery to fellow teens oversees.

The group is still looking for an organization to deliver the backpacks. If you have any resources you can call Crowley High at 783-5313.
