COUSHATTA, La. (AP) - An Avoyelles Parish prisoner who escaped from a Bunkie facility on Jan. 12 has been recaptured in Red River Parish.

Sheriff Doug Anderson tells The Town Talk 45-year-old Richard Bamburg had escaped from the Avoyelles Sheriff's Office Detention Center by climbing over a fence and through razor wire.

Anderson says Bamburg was captured Friday by the U.S. Marshall Service Fugitive Task Force and Red River Parish Sheriff's Office.

He is currently being held in the Red River Parish Jail and will be transferred back to Avoyelles to face charges of simple escape.
