NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A 48-year-old woman from Avondale has been accused of stealing government funds.
U.S. Attorney Jim Letten says Alma Williams was charged Thursday in a Bill of Information with one count of theft of government funds. The court documents say Williams received about $69,651 in Social Security Disability Insurance payments to which she knew she wasn't entitled.
If convicted, Williams faces up to 10 years and a $250,000 fine.
