NEW ORLEANS (AP) - An automatic assault rifle was among weapons stolen when thieves broke into a New Orleans Police Department SWAT officer's car over the weekend.

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office said Wednesday that the unmarked car was parked in a subdivision in the suburb of Marrero when the break-in occurred. A semi-automatic handgun and other department-issued tactical equipment also were taken. The equipment was locked in the trunk of the car.

Four other car break-ins in occurred in the same block Sunday afternoon.

A Jefferson Parish detective has recovered surveillance video of two people possibly connected to the burglaries. Attempts were being made to enhance the video and identify the two people.

New Orleans police did not immediately comment.
