August Events at Vermilionville

LAFAYETTE, LA - Vermilionville Living History Museum & Park hosts many special events each month including its weekly Cajun Jam on Saturdays, Bal du Dimanche (Sunday Dance) as well as year round exhibits. The village is open Tuesday - Sunday from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. and admission is $10 for adults, $6 for students, $8 for senior citizens 65+ and children under 6 get in free. See below for a list of upcoming events.

Saturday, August 4 | Cajun Jam | 1 - 3:30 p.m.
Join Vermilionville for their weekly Cajun Jam led by some of the area's finest musicians. The free jam is held in the Performance Center of Vermilionville and is open to all skill levels-beginner to professional. Free admission is for jam only and does not include entry to the park. Sunday, August 5 | Bal du Dimanche with Zydeco Ray & The Creole Night Riders | 1 - 4 p.m.
Dance the afternoon away with Zydeco Ray & The Creole Night Riders at Vermilionville's weekly Sunday Dance. Refreshments will be available for this smoke-free all ages show at Vermilionville's Performance Center. Click here for more info on the band. Bal du dimanche is held every Sunday. $5 admission is for dance only and does not include entry to the park.

Saturday, August 11 | Canoe Paddle | 8:30 - 11:30 a.m.
The community is invited to take a canoe trip on the Bayou Vermilion. $5 insurance fee to American Canoe Association for a canoe or bring your own canoe or kayak and paddle for free. Canoe trips are held every second and last Saturday of the month weather and river conditions permitting. Please RSVP in advance by emailing Margot Addison or calling (337) 233-4077 x 205.

Sunday, August 12 | Acadian Culture Day | 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Acadian Culture Day will celebrate the heritage of our Acadian ancestors through oral traditions/storytelling, music, dance, cooking demonstrations, language and crafts. Admission is free to the public.

Tuesday, August 14 | CCET's Backyard Lecture Series | 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.
Augusts' topic is Swamp Pop. The series is sponsored in part by Decentralized Arts Funding distributed by the Acadiana Center for the Arts and the Louisiana Division of the Arts in partnership with the Vermilionville Foundation. Free and open to all ages.

Friday, August 17 | Swamp Pop Night | 8 - 11 p.m.
Join Willie Tee & Cypress Band with special guest Warren Storm for Vermilionville's first Swamp Pop Night. Admission is $15 for this smoke free all ages show. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the music starts at 8 p.m. Food and beverage will be available for purchase.
