A recent audit of Town of Sunset's finances turned up unauthorized payments made in 2009 to the town clerk and assistant clerk. According to the external audit, the two employees received over $3,800 in reimbursements from FEMA for costs associated with Hurricane Gustav. The audit says those funds were for the town and not any individuals. The audit states the clerks will pay full restitution over the next few months.
