ATV wreck kills Ferriday man, 24

FERRIDAY, La. (AP) - Louisiana State Police say a 24-year-old man who was not wearing a helmet was thrown from his all-terrain vehicle and died after he lost control and the ATV hit a big brick mailbox.
Trooper Daniel "Scott" Moreau says Matthew Louis Evans of Ferriday was pronounced dead at Riverland Medical Center after the accident, which occurred about 5:50 a.m. Sunday.
He says it happened on Louisiana Highway 568 in Concordia Parish.
Moreau says it is illegal to operate off-road vehicles on any public roadway in Louisiana.
