A new attendance policy at Wednesday's Lafayette Parish School Board Meeting will challenge the existing policy allowing for suspended to students to make up missed work but not students with unexcused absences. The police approved last July contained this information that most board members were not aware of, according to School Board member Greg Awbrey. He says when the state law changed and allowed for suspended students to make up missed work it did not allow for the kids with unexcused absences to make up the work. The new policy on Wednesday's agenda will allow for those students to make up work and days missed after school hours and in the summer.
