Justin Jenkins, 23, of Baldwin was arrested for the attempted robbery of a priest in May.
According to Chief of Police Gerald Minor, Jenkins was arrested on Sunday afternoon by the Baldwin Police on Lockley Street and charged with attempted armed robbery, criminal trespassing, attempted burglary, attempted burglary of an inhabited dwelling, and simple burglary. Jenkins was also picked up for several warrants out for his arrest.
Father Gregory Cormier of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church was approached by a young man on May 8, 2013, who came out of the shadows demanding cash, valuables or anything he had.
"I said I don't have anything, but then I said to him I have Jesus and so I just led to pray," said Father Cormier. "When I opened my eyes I said to him 'God loves you, God loves you very much.'"
Cormier stated the man began questioning him. The robbery suspect said, "You sure God loves me?" and Father Cormier said, "Yes, God loves you, and then he disappeared."
According to Father Cormier, nothing was stolen, but a window was broken.
