An attempted child abduction in Lafayette is now being labeled a case of mistaken identity. Police say the so-called suspect, was an acquaintance of the family the child simply did not recognize.
The 11 year old girl, and another child, were approached while walking to school along Driftwood Drive.
Police say the girl did not recognize the man who is a family acquaintance and ran to a nearby house for help.
Investigators say there was no attempted abduction at all, but still credit the girl for doing the smart thing in what could have been a dangerous situation.
