BATON ROUGE- Lousiana State University Police Department (LSUPD) now reports that it is no longer seeking an attempted abduction suspect because the 22-year old female student who reported the alleged incident says she made it all up.
Police have charged LSU student, Leila Marlene Wolfe, 22, of Denham Springs, with criminal mischief for reporting a fake attempted abduction on the LSU campus Thursday night.
LSUPD reports that, while further questioning Wolfe, officers began to notice inconsistencies in the student's story.
Wolfe's fabrication began at 7:30 p.m. last night when she entered the LSUPD office and reported being grabbed by specifically characterized, black man who had been driving a boxy, black van. LSUPD continued to question Wolfe about the specific details she had provided, but noticed that parts of the story did not match.
Alerts were issued by LSUPD and a search continued throughout Friday. Wolfe was issued a misdemeanor summons and was released.
