Ask Joey - November 17, 2011

Parish President Joey Durel can be seen on GMA every Thursday around 6:40am to answer your questions. This week Joey Durel answered the following questions, please watch the video attached to hear the answers.

1)Question from Mark Lowe:
What can be done about the curve just north of the Bonin / LaNeuville intersetion where the cars keep crashing through the fence into back yards of homes. Can the road be straightened some how? Can some type of barrier be erected to prevent their entry?

My understanding is that the Homeowners Association is already working with our Traffic and Transportation department for the last several months to address this concern. They have made some changes to improve the area already, and they are continuing to work with the group to develop solutions.

The issue is that people are driving too fast, and alcohol has been involved in many of the incidents.

2)Question from Jody Brannon:
When is LUS going to expand the NFL Channel so we can subscribe to the "Red Zone", which is when the teams get down to the 20 yard line and are about to score. I've called LUS and no one knows the answer.

Also a suggestion, on the LUS website, there is no information on NFL channels. There is MLB info. Why is that?

LUS Fiber is currently working to expand their channel offerings to include NFL Red Zone. The staff is working hard to have it available by next season.

The link on the homepage, where you saw the information about Major League Baseball, is changed according to the current sports Pay Per View package available to customers. The link was, at one time, MLB Extra Innings so that customers who are enjoying that Pay Per View package could easily find broadcast information since the schedules are only released on a week-by-week basis. Today, the link is to broadcast information for ESPN Full Court.

On the data side, LUS Fiber had a very exciting announcement earlier this week. We have partnered with a private company to provide 10 GB of enterprise-level offsite, cloud-based data backup storage to all LUS Fiber Internet subscribers (business AND residential) free of charge through a proprietary software and storage platform called iOBACKUP. This platform allows easy account management through a user-friendly web interface and file selection and schedule creation are completed within the application.
