Parish President Joey Durel can be seen on GMA every Thursday around 6:40am to answer your questions. This week Joey Durel answered the following questions, please watch the video attached to hear the answers.
1) Question from Kimberly:
I would like to know when Lafayette parish will overlay Hwy 182 (Cade st. martinville hwy). The new overlay starts after the Lafayette parish line.
This is a DOTD project, so we requested an answer from their staff. They said that a project to overlay Hwy 182 in Lafayette Parish has been added to the Preventive Maintenance Program to be bid in FY 12-13 at an estimated cost of $200K. The project will include a cold plane and overlay beginning at the parish line to the Billeaud overpass. Any other questions about this area can be sent to DOTD (phone number is (337) 262-6100.
2) Question from Randy:
I was wondering if there were any plans on the completion of street lights on Ambassador Caffery from Verot School Road to the Youngsville Highway?
Ambassador Caffery Parkway is a state road. However, the maintenance and operation of street lights on state roads fall under the responsibility of the local jurisdiction. DOTD permits us to install and maintain any lighting we want, as long as we pay for it, including power costs and maintenance.
There are no plans as of yet to install street lights on Ambassador Caffery from Verot School Road to the Youngsville Highway because there are no funds allocated. This project will compete with other needed projects for limited funds.
