GONZALES, La. (AP) - Prosecutors in Ascension Parish will seek the death penalty for four men accused of killing three members of a Gonzales family.
A notice of intent has been issued to seek the death penalty for Michael Aikens, Travis Moore, Bernard James and Rolondo Stewart. The four men are accused of slashing the throats of 74-year-old Robert Irwin Marchand and his stepson, 50-year-old Douglas Alan Dooley, during a robbery on Feb. 18. Both men died at the scene. Seventy-two-year-old Shirley Ann Marchand died on March 2.
Sheriff Jeff Wiley said gold and silver coins believed to be in a safe the men targeted were worth slightly more than $100,000.
