New details about an accident that took place Friday afternoon on Ambassador Caffery In total eight cars were hit and the man allegedly responsible for it all fled the scene. That man has since been arrested and one of his victims speaks up.
Leslie Carbo says she screamed when her car was hit from behind Friday on her way home from work. She and seven others including a school bus were hit by the driver of a 1993 Buick Road Master who fled the scene. Witnesses say after the driver fled the scene he continued south on Ambassador Caffery and turned right on Verot School Road and ran straight into a maroon Saturn. That car belonged to Leslie Carbo, she was stopped in traffic on her way home from work. "It was like BAM, out of no where, someone crashed in to me," she said.
Carbo's car crashed into the car in front of her. She tried to call 911 but the cops were already there, "I was looking in my mirror when they got to his car and they were telling him to get out the car and you can tell he was very intoxicated," said Carbo.
32 year old, Philemon Boudreaux was arrested and charged with OWI, hit and run two counts of reckless operation, and possession of a scheduled two narcotic. As to Boudreaux's motive; Officials say they're not sure. "We're trying to understand that obviously he was impaired after being on what we call a controlled substance, "said Lafayette Police Cpl Paul Mouton.
Carbo's car is a total loss, the good news is no one was hurt.
