Arrest records and warrants are shedding new light on the Wednesday afternoon raid of a Carencro strip club. Agents from the Drug Enforcement Agency stormed the Desperado's Caberet around 1:00 P. M. Federal officials have charged Desperado's owner James Panos with maintaining a drug-involved premises. The U. S. Attorney's Office would not specify the allegations against Panos, but officials did say Panos violated a federal law that prohibits a business owner from manufacturing, storing, distributing, or using a controlled substance on the premises.
While most of Wednesday's action took place at the club, agents made two arrests at Panos' Broussard home. His wife, Jennifer, was arrested after detectives found two small bags of cocaine--one on the floor of the upstairs master bedroom and the other in a jewelry box in the same bathroom. Jennifer Panos is charged with possession of cocaine. Sheriff's deputies also arrested another man at the house, Michael Broussard, on a traffic court bench warrant.
Affidavits from the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office indicate narcotics agents found several club employees in possession of illicit drugs. Tanja Clavier was arrested on warrants for two counts each of distributing cocaine and distributing valium. Agents charged Clavier with an additional count of possession with intent to distribute after they say they found six Lortab pills in her purse without a prescription. Clavier is being held on $151,000 bond.
Louris Lenoir is charged with possession of cocaine and possession of Hydrocodone. Agents say Lenoir, a dancer at the club, had two grams of cocaine and one Lortab tablet in her purse. Investigators say Lenoir admitted the drugs were hers. She is being held on $11,000 bond.
Crystal Sampy is charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine. Investigators say they found three small bags of powder cocaine in her purse. Officials say Sampy claimed the drugs as her own. Sampy was also picked up on warrants for distribution of marijuana, cocaine, and prescription pills. She is being held on $70,000 bond. Sampy's husband, Brian, was also arrested on a warrant for distribution of marijuana. He is being held on $5,000 bond.
Agents made two arrests after entering the VIP room. Heather Kelley was charged on several possession counts. Agents say they found one gram of meth, one used joint, and two prescription tablets in her purse. Agents also say they found a Lortab pill on the VIP room floor, but they say Kelley denied it was hers. Kelley's alleged companion in the VIP room, Tyrone Adams, told agents he paid Kelley $150 for sexual services. Both face misdemeanor prostitution charges. Kelley is being held on $18,800 bond. Adams has bonded out of jail.
