Arrest Made in Fontelieu Drive Shooting Incident

A 21-year-old New Iberia man is behind bars accused of shooting a man during an argument.

According to Iberia Parish Sheriff Louis Ackal, the arrest of Deshawn Anthony Davis for the charges of Attempted First Degree Murder and Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property. Davis was arrested without incident by patrol deputies on Monday night in a residence located in the 800 block of Francis St. in New Iberia. The arrest was the result of an investigation, conducted by detectives with the Bureau of Investigation, into a shooting incident which occurred at a residence in the 500 block of Fontelieu Drive in New Iberia Sunday night. According to witnesses, Davis engaged in a verbal altercation with the occupants of the residence. Following the altercation, Davis produced a handgun and fired several shots into the residence, according to police. No one in the residence was injured.

Davis was booked into the Iberia Parish Jail with bond set at $500,000.00.
