The Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office say a 21-year-old Eunice man is in custody for attempted second-degree murder as part of the ongoing investigation of an incident that left two people injured and a third person dead after a trail ride party Sunday evening.
According to an APSO press release, officers with the Eunice Police Department arrested Emerick J. St. Andre early Friday morning without incident on a warrant issued Thursday in Acadia Parish.
St. Andre is being charged with the attempted second degree murder of Manuel Thomas. Thomas received injuries to his leg after being shot during the altercation, which occurred at a convenience store in Branch, adjacent to the after party for a trail ride.
D'Andre Goodley, 18, was shot and killed during the incident.
"They (St. Andre and Goodley) went to the trail ride together," said Drew Goodley Semien, D'Andre's mother.
According to Semien, St. Andre got into an altercation and departed the event, leaving Goodley behind at the trail ride.
St. Andre is presently being held in the Acadia Parish Jail with bond set at $100,000 by District Judge Glenn Everett.
Investigators continue to questions witnesses and persons of interest more arrests are expected.
