LAPLACE, La. (AP) - Authorities have arrested a 27-year-old man as a suspect in the weekend death of a teenage girl in LaPlace.
The St. John Parish Sheriff's Office says U.S. Marshals captured Earnest Joseph III Wednesday afternoon in Gulfport, Miss., shortly after St. John Sheriff Wayne Jones announced a warrant for his arrest.
The warrant accuses him of murdering 15-year-old Taylor Adams. Her mother found her badly beaten body early Sunday in the girl's bedroom at their home in LaPlace.
Sheriff Jones said Joseph has relatives in Gulfport.
He said investigators had recovered the weapon used to bludgeon Adams.
He said that - based on her last activity on Facebook -
investigators believe Adams died some time between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. Sunday.
