Arrest close in Abbeville's infant's death

Abbeville Police say they're closer to making an arrest in the death of a three-month-old baby, according to Lt. David Hardy. The Vermilion Parish coroner has ruled Jayla Broussard's death a homicide. The infant had suffered a broken wrist, fractured ribs and a fractured skull and died from blunt force trauma.

Her biological father, Larry Levier, says Jayla was under the care of her mother and her fiancee at the time of the incident. According to police,The mother and fiance's statements have been inconsistent, Jayla was transported again to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge. She was pronounced brain dead last Tuesday and died Wednesday night.
