New developments in an officer involved shooting in Arnaudville.
The St. Landry Parish Grand Jury found no criminal conduct on the part of Arnaudville Police officer Dallas Barron III arising out of an attempted arrest and shooting of Marlin Eaglin on August 22, 2010. The Grand Jury returned a Not a True Bill with 27th Judicial District Judge Ellis Daigle on October 26, 2010.
The part time officer was accused of shooting Eaglin during a traffic stop for a missing license plate. It happened at LA 31 and Hebert Road around 12:40 a.m.
While trying to arrest Eaglin for an outstanding warrant, the two struggled. Barron claimed Eaglin took his taser and tried to use it on him.
The officer fired two shots at Eaglin, hitting him in his legs. Barron was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office.
Barron recently lost the election for Leonville Police Chief. He received 59 votes on October 2, not enough to defeat Joseph Noel.
