Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested

An armed robbery suspect that allegedly cut a store clerk is behind bars.

At 10:30 Friday morning Abbeville Police officers responded to a call from JB Express located at 1200 S. State for a possible robbery.

Officers say when they arrived a woman was in hysterics with apparent injuries to the face and left forearm.

According to officers the woman claimed a man armed with a knife came into the store, jumped the counter, beat her in the face striking her in the face with a knife, forced her to open the register, took cash from the register then fled out the store.

Based on the description the victim gave, officers were able to identify a suspect by photo line up as well as in-store security video. A short time later officers were able to locate the suspect at another near-by store and arrest him.

The woman was transported to Abbeville General Hospital where she was treated for her injuries.

Chief Hardy would like to commend all the officers involved for their response and team work in the apprehension of the suspect.

Tracy Harris, 45, of Abbeville, is charged with Armed Robbery and Possession of Crack Cocaine.
