Armed Robbery in New Iberia

On September 09, 2010 at approximately 03:09 p.m. Sheriff Louis Ackal stated Deputies were dispatched to 1801 Center Street New Iberia in reference to an armed robbery. Once Deputies arrived on scene, they spoke to a cashier who stated a white male approximately 6 feet 3 inches tall wearing a blue baseball hat, light blue tee shirt and blue jeans, attempted to hold up the store.
According to witnesses, the suspect advised the cashier he had a gun and demanded money from the register. The cashier then sounded the panic alarm causing the suspect to run from the store. The suspect was last seen running south on Hwy 14.
Sheriff Ackal asks if anyone having information on the identity of the suspect to contact the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office at (337)369-3711.
