Armed robber wanted in Rayne for store & restaurant robberies

Rayne Police are looking for a man accused of two armed robberies in two days. The first robbery happened Friday at Dollar General on E. Louisiana Ave around 10 p.m., and the second one happened Saturday night at Pizza Hut on The Blvd. around 10:45 p.m. Rayne police are hopeful someone recognizes the man in surveillance pictures.

According to Police Chief Carroll Stelly, the robber walked into Dollar General with a shotgun and got away with less than $150. "The suspect was wearing a black ski mask, black or blue hooded jacket with a grey fleece interior, dark colored pants and dark shoes with a white sole," Stelly said. The following night the robber walked into Pizza Hut with a shotgun and left with an undisclosed amount of cash. He may have left in a light-colored Ford Escape and is described as a tall, slim white male

"If you know someone who has access to a Ford Escape and matches the suspect description, please call Detective Richard Gray at 337-384-8299 or Crime Stoppers at 789-TIPS," Stelly said.

A cash reward is available for information that leads to an arrest, and callers will remain anonymous.
