VILLE PLATTE | Learn how to make a pine needle basket on Saturday, June 22, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Louisiana State Arboretum in Ville Platte.
Participants will learn the basic techniques of making a pine needle basket. The Arboretum will provide the supplies for participants. Space in the class is limited so pre-registration is required.
The Louisiana State Arboretum is a 601-acre preservation area providing six miles of hiking trails amid some of Louisiana's most magnificent trees. Nature programs on varying subjects from plants and animals to astronomy are offered throughout the year. The Arboretum Visitor Center
is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $1 per person to enter Chicot State Park through June and $2 per person beginning July 1. Once inside Chicot, the Arboretum is free.
The Arboretum Visitor Center is located six miles north of Ville Platte on La. 3042, within Chicot State Park or three miles south of La. 106.
