New York's Apollo Theater is partnering with Lafayette to launch a new production.
In October, choreographers, dancers and designers from around the world will meet in Lafayette to start working on a new production called "James Brown: Get On the Good Foot - A Celebration in Dance."
The performance will be produced in Lafayette before premiering at the Apollo and then hitting the road for a national tour.
The production is part of Louisiana's Live Entertainment Initiative, a tax credit system that supports live performances launched in the bayou state.
"It shows that we are being recognized for our artists, our artistry and culture here in south Louisiana from as far away as in New York and that New York, a very cultured center of our country, is recognizing Lafayette as being a central culture of Louisiana," said Lafayette City-Parish President Joey Durel.
