MANSFIELD, La. (AP) - The DeSoto Parish School Board didn't debate whether to give Walter Lee a 23rd year as superintendent.
But The Times of Shreveport reports that there had been a lot of jockeying among board members in the days leading up to Tuesday night's 8-3 vote.
Bartholomew Claiborne said on Monday that he was wavering. But on Tuesday, he said so many voters called his office to oppose an extension that he had to vote no.
Lee's salary remains $185,976. But he'll get any pay raises or supplements approved for other employees.
