Animal Aid seeking help from community

Lafayette Animal Aid is asking for help with a severely injured mixed-breed puppy they received last week.

The shelter received the 3 to 4 month-old puppy named Archie following an injury that left his two legs broken in several places and one knee cap shattered. Both Archie's femurs were broken threatening his life.  He was sent to an orthopedic surgeon where his bones were pinned together and knee cap was removed.

His initial surgical cost was $3,000.00 and the shelter is asking for donations to help cover his care. Lafayette Animal Aid is the only "no kill" shelter in Acadiana and are not budgeted for the type of care Archie received.

Animal Aid says Archie is very sweet puppy and has a beautiful temperament.

This is unique and very challenging for an animal shelter's budget. If you would like to adopt Archie or help with a donation go to or send a donation to:
Lafayette Animal Aid, P.O. Box 298, Carencro, La. 70520, please make a note that it is for Archie.

During the month of December, Lafayette Animal Aid accepted three dogs that required surgery. One little dog had a bullet hole to the head, one had a broken leg from being hit by a car while running the streets, and Archie had two horrifically broken legs.
