New Iberia kicked off Mardi Gras parade season with the Andalusia Parade Friday night. Floats, dancers, bands and parade-goers filled the streets of downtown for the first parade in Acadiana.
"I like to see all the people so happy and it gives them a chance to come out and have a good time," said Leta Anderson
Everyone has their favorites when it comes parades.
"The bands and the beads and all the excitement, just partying," said Yevette Dominique Hamilton.
And while New Iberia's Mardi Gras parade is the first of many to come, there's one thing that sets it apart.
"It's home, it's home," said Hamilton.
"I know all the people here, they're friendly and they always throw to you," said Anderson.
