Amtrak: No passengers injured in crash

Amtrak officials say no passengers were injured when a train on the Sunset Limited line crashed into a vehicle at the corner of LA 182 and LA 92.

Amtrak spokesman Marc Magliari says one employee suffered minor injuries while getting off the train.

At least one person in the vehicle died. Police have not yet said how many people were in the vehicle.

According to Magliari, the train was traveling from New Orleans to Los Angeles. The train left New Orleans this morning around 9:00 and made a scheduled stop in New Iberia at 12:17.

Magliari says the train suffered some engine damage. However, he says the damage is not great enough to cancel the trip.

According to Magliari, the train will continue on its western voyage after police finish their investigation. He says passengers between Lafayette and San Antonio will experience delays.
