The Acadia Parish police jury is pushing "Amendment 2" to repair and maintain roads and bridges.
It was rejected 2 years ago. The police jury says because people mistakenly thought it was a new tax. Today they have a new opportunity to pass the Amendment.
Last year Acadia parish got $850,000 dollars back from their severance taxes to use for roadwork,
but if Amendment 2 passes, in 2012 they can get $500,000 dollars more.
