The Lafayette Consolidated Council unanimously approved the Ambassador Caffery North project. Traffic and Transportation Director Tony Tramel says the $60 million project would extend Ambassador Caffery for 9.5 miles, from Renaud Drive to I-49. The new road would be a four lane boulevard. Tramel says the next step is to find the money to build the extension. Don't expect to see construction anytime soon though -- Tramel says this project is currently at the same point that the Ambassador Caffery South extension was 18 years ago. That extension opened a year-and-a-half ago.
