During the early morning hours of August 1, the Abbeville Police Department responded to a complaint of an attempted robbery where three men chased and shot a man.
According to the victim, three men stopped him on the street and tried to sell him illegal narcotics. The victim refused and the suspects began to beat him. According to police, the victim was able to escape from the suspects who gave chase and caught the victim at a nearby residence.
According to police the suspects began to beat the victim again, pulled out a gun and shot the victim in the upper arm. The victim was treated for his wounds at a local hospital and was later released in stable condition.
The Abbeville Police Department executed a search warrant on the residence of Damian Davis August 2. While doing so, officers were able to make contact with the wanted subject by phone. Damian Davis was then turned over to the Abbeville Police Department, at the residence by a family member.
Damian Davis, 28, was booked on the charges of Attempted Second Degree Murder and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
The bond on the charges was set at $520,000.00. Davis was then transferred to Vermilion Parish Correctional Center.
