ALEXANDRIA, La. (AP) - The Alexandria City Council has cured one of the nine audit findings against the city during the 2010-11 fiscal year.
The Town Talk reports (http://townta.lk/Le5iic ) the council adopting an ordinance Tuesday outlining a new budgetary policy for the city's Risk Management Fund. City officials were cited by auditor Ernest Sasser for using non-existent fund balance in the Risk Management Fund that led to a deficit of nearly $1.9 million.
It was the only one of Sasser's nine findings that administration officials disputed.
Alexandria Mayor Jacques Roy challenged Sasser's opinion that the city's policy violated the spirit of the City Charter, but in order to answer the finding, city officials set about adopting a new policy.
