The Raceland Agriculture facility will get a $1.3 million face-lift this month.
The upgrades include new office space and expanded show areas, paid for through the hurricanes Gustav and Ike Disaster Recovery Program.
Mike Hebert, Lafourche Parish agent with the LSU Agriculture Center, will get a new office as part of the overhaul. He's moving from Thibodaux to the new facility.
The Courier reports the project will include new indoor bathrooms, a commercial kitchen, improved parking, additional offices and the remodeling of the older, outdoor bathrooms. The building also is designed to be used in an emergency to shelter people and livestock.
Hebert says the upgrades will make the center more accessible.
