RACELAND, La. (AP) - A man who had been on the run for nearly three years has turned himself in to Lafourche Parish sheriff's deputies.
Sheriff Craig Webre says 26-year-old Andrew Washington had been evading police since 2009 when he didn't show up in court to be sentenced on drug charges.
Narcotics agents came close to catching him in a traffic stop in 2010, but he got away. WVUE-TV reports Washington is now back in custody on new warrants related to that escape from officers.
Washington is also still facing sentencing on the original drug charges, which included possession of cocaine and marijuana with intent to distribute.
He's being held on $187,000 bond.
