PORT ALLEN, La. (AP) - A West Baton Rouge Parish grand jury has indicted an Addis man on a count of second-degree murder in the fatal shooting of his girlfriend's son earlier this month.
The Advocate reports Cruz Ramirez is accused of shooting Clarence Jones in the back with a rifle during a dispute.
The grand jury indictment was returned Tuesday.
Investigators said Ramirez and Jones were arguing in the upstairs portion of their house on Feb. 4.
Sheriff's Col. Richie Johnson says the two men continued to argue outside the home when Ramirez grabbed an SKS rifle propped against a door and fired two rounds in Jones' direction.
It couldn't be determined if Ramirez had an attorney.
