Among the two St. Landry Parish School Board members facing accusations of extortion, one has a similar story in his past. Back in 2004, Quincy Richard (pictured, right) and his wife were involved in the Southern University grade-buying scandal. Richard and his wife pled guilty to paying a university official $1,500 for a master's degree and also to filing false public records. Back then Richard was already on the St. Landry Parish School Board, he was forced to resign because of the scandal.
Reports indicated Richard was sentenced to two-years probation. He ran again for the school board in 2010 and won.
Richard could not be reached for comment Tuesday.
