Several Acadiana families find themselves with new tax deductions this New Years Day, the first babies of 2013.

Jennifer and Brandon Henry are overwhelmed with joy this New Years as they welcome their first born into the world. Brielle Arianna Henry was born three minutes into 2013.

"It was overwhelming. I was expecting to come in on the third. I really wasn't expecting to come in on New Years," said Jennifer Henry.

"It's really exciting to watch her being born, especially the first born," said Brandon Henry.

Brielle weighed in at six pounds 12 ounces and is 17 inches long. Her parents didn't expect her to have a full head of hair.

"When I was a baby, I didn't have any, but he had a lot when he was a baby," said Jennifer.

Like the Henrys, a Lafayette couple didn't expect their baby so soon.

"I was supposed to be due on the 17th, but she was ready to come," said Mandi Benoit.

In Lafayette, Robbin Marie Bordelon was the first baby of the year coming in at 4:16 a.m. Robbin was born at Women's and Childrens Hospital, weighing six pounds, eight ounces and is 20 inches long.

"I was excited, I was nervous and I was freaking out."

2013 for both families will be a New Year's they'll always remember.
