A group of volleyball players from Acadiana hit the sand this past weekend to raise money for a good cause.
The group played in the Chevron Children's Hospital Tournament at Coconut Beach in Kenner. Through sponsorship and player donations, the group of 54 raised over $4,560.00 for Children's Hospital in New Orleans.
For Bill Reid, of Lafayette, the tournament is about more than just having a good time. His daughter Sadie had a pacemaker installed at Children's Hospital a little over two years ago.
"She continues to do well and is in good health," said Reid. "She is a strong, exciting and creative young lady."
The tournament raised a total of $32,519.95 for Children's Hospital.
