Two Acadiana schools are gearing up for huge football games tomorrow night. One matchup at Westgate, the other at S-T-M.
Some are concerned about parking and bleacher seating because an estimated 8000 people might attend the Lafayette game, but Athletic Director Kim Broussard says not to worry, more bleachers are being brought in.
But that's not good enough for some cynics and a few have grumbled he should move the game to Cajun Field because the crowd will be a record breaker:
Here's what Mr. Broussard says to that, "I feel like I have to address that for your viewers, this is about the players and yes we could have moved it there but the players deserve to play here- it's routine."
Down to Iberia parish- Westgate high is preparing to host a big game too, when West Monroe comes to town Friday. It's a rough estimate but officials are thinking 5000-7000 people could show.
There will be increased police presence at both locations for crowd control and traffic.
***The aired version of this story displayed an incorrect graphic, Mr. Broussard is talking about Cajun Field, but STM is home to "the Cougars." Also Mr. Broussard is athletic director, not coach. Corrections are reflected in this text version of the story***
