This Thanksgiving Eve, you can light up the night sky by wearing shirts or objects that glow while running or walking down Camellia Boulevard.
It's the 11th annual Camellia Crossing, Acadiana's Fastest 5K and Family Fun Run. All funds raised stay in Acadiana to help families fight, survive, and live with cancer.
"It's a really great way to kick off the holiday season, it's a way for us to say thank you to the community for all the support they show us in so many different ways," Miles Perret Community Liaison Lacey Shelton.
For the second year in a row, there's a glow element which means runners will receive items that glow and blink such as a necklace and bracelet.
"We introduced that last year it was a lot of fun, we got a huge response, people absolutely loved it so we're bringing it back bigger and better than last year," said Shelton.
Add as much glow or as little as you want, but awards will be given for the best glow. Organizers already have 2,500 people registered but this year their goal is to break 3,000.
"People do like this race, you know for the past years, we've seen a lot of growth about a 40% increase over the year," said Shelton.
So lace up your shoes and get ready for fun filled event and don't forget to be creative with your glow.
"I want to see how the glow plays out this year, I'm curious to see if we have people that take it a little bit further, things like party dreads and hair extensions and those sorts of things," said Shelton.
Registration packets are available until Wednesday at noon at the Miles Perret Cancer Services on Kaliste Saloom or beginning at 4:30p.m. in Town Square River Ranch.
With registration you'll get glow your material and food. Registation $30 for children and $35 for adults. All proceeds benefit Miles Perret. This event kicks off tomorrow at 4:30p.m. in Town Square.
After the run, there will be dancing, music and food all in Town Square.
