Despite an un-Notre Dame-like Second Round showing in 2011, the Pioneers won't have to look back very far to draw inspiration for the upcoming season. In 2008, Lewis Cook's crew rebounded with back-to-back trips to the Dome including a 2009 state championship. While title dreams are still a while away, the Pioneers hope the pieces are in place for another December run in the postseason.
While only six starters return from a year ago, there will be plenty of players with in-game experience thanks to injuries. The main question offensively will be that of quarterback. Sophomore Brad Stoma is tabbed to run the Pio show and will benefit from 3 returning starter up front on the offensive line. The defense has 3 returners as well, highlighed by the secondary combo of Gavin Bourgeois and Clint Faul.
Another tough non-district slate awaits Notre Dame with Breaux Bridge and Teurlings presented early lithmus test for the Pios.
