The Acadiana High School football team left for the Louisiana Superdome this morning.
The "Wreckin Rams" loaded up on charter buses with high hopes they'll return from New Orleans with a 5A State Championship.
Senior tight end, Alex Morvant, said "we are very excited. We are going to New Orleans baby. It's the last game ever."
Morvant said he couldn't feel more ready to take the field.
"I feel very prepared," he explained. "This is what we have trained for our whole lives."
Senior Quarterback, Ryan Bergeron said, "we are going to play our hearts out."
With a police escort and fans cheering them on, the Acadiana High football team pulled away from their stomping ground.
Cheerleader, Alayni Guidry, said "it's amazing to have this feeling and now it finally hit all of us that we are actually going to the State Championship."
Acadiana High Senior, Angelic Mouton, was a freshman when the Rams won state four years ago.
She said, "so now to go back as seniors and actually take it home. It would be a blessing."
Mouton is hoping to round out her high school career with another win.
She said, "I think they are ready. I'm excited for them. I wish I could play ."
Proud Parent, Terry Abraham, said "they are ready. They are ready to go."
The cheerleaders, band and many of the other fans will be joining the team in New Orleans tomorrow morning. They'll face off against West Monroe at 7 pm.
