Acadiana Food Bank Running Out of Food

Representatives with Food Net-the Greater Acadiana Foodbank-said the food pantry is running out of food and needs your help.

Lemel Jones, Food Net Executive Director, said the shelves in the warehouse are running low and she's worried about feeding the 3,000 families that depend on the food bank every month.

Rick Broussard, Owner of Scandal's Nite Club, said he saw KATC's Facebook post this morning about the empty warehouse and decided to help.

This Sunday the 25th people can bring canned goods to Scandals Nite Club in Lafayette to donate to Food Net. Every person who brings canned goods can get one free drink. Geno Delafose will be playing and doors will be open from 4 to 7 pm.

The food bank feeds about 35 thousand people in the Acadiana area every single year. Officials said there's been a higher demand for food in recent years, and rely on community support to help feed those in need.

You can visit www.foodnetacadiana.org or call (337) 232 3663 to donate.
